“Sleeping Beauty”

The piece was part of a sustained investigation on the negative effects of glow up culture.  I wanted to show how exhausting and detrimental the cycle of constant self care can be. By placing the woman on the floor waving a mascara wand she is admitting defeat.  Something I also paid attention to was how the light source invoked a certain mood. I wanted it to feel like a flash bulb from a paparazzi, like we were invading this women’s space.
